Despite a late start, Montgomery College’s Mobile Market was a success. They gave away various fruits, vegetables, and non perishables. It was being hosted by the Student Health and Wellness Center for Success, and offered fresh produce and other foods at no cost to Montgomery College students, faculty, and the community. There is no need to show ID, all Mobile Market team members ask is for the total number of members in your family; then you are given a choice of what they have in stock.
The Mobile Market’s initiative is to make sure that each person that comes to this event will be able to take home at least forty pounds of food for their families. The Mobile Market fulfills a need within the community for healthy and accessible food for all. A program like The Mobile Market meets the needs of those at Montgomery College and in the community it is a shining example of what collaboration and a vision can do. Thanks to Montgomery College, Capital Area Food Bank, and The Mobile Market the basic necessities of those in need are being met.
The Mobile Market is set to come to the Montgomery College – Germantown Campus once a month. The following are the monthly dates: October 10, November 7, December 5, and in 2019, February 13, March 20, April 10, May 8. So check your calendars and make sure you come out for the next event!
