Speak to Me

Tell me why

Tell me why you see a gold chain and a flashy car, but I see a lack of self-worth and anxiety scars

Tell me why the color of my skin dictates the way in which I dress, but when I choose to embrace my identity I’m seen as a threat

Tell me why the world sees black and associates it with danger, but I see black and know that we’re thinkers, strivers, and creators

Tell me why we as black people turn on one another, but proceed to see the next of kin and call them brother

Tell me why
