Great news: this year’s Spring Commencement Ceremony at Montgomery College will be held in-person for the first time in over two years!
The ceremony will take place in the course of two days on May 19th and 20th at 10 am. Graduating students will be split into two groups alphabetically based on last names. May 19th is for students whose last names start from A-L and May 20th for students whose last names are from M-Z. Commencement will take place at the Rockville Campus in parking lot #11 in front of the Performing Arts Center. Rain or shine, the ceremony will go on and in the case of rain, rain ponchos will be provided for attendees.
“It will be my honor to welcome the graduating students, confer the degrees, and deliver the commencement address.” Montgomery College President Dr. Jermaine F. Williams states in his memo for staff and students. This will be Williams’ first commencement ceremony as the college’s new President.
Each graduating student will have the chance to invite two guests in order to provide seating, but more guests will have a chance to witness the ceremony in-person in an additional standing area near the PAC building. A livestream will also be recorded for those who wish to see the ceremony if they wish to do so.
Graduating students should report to the Rockville Campus at 8:30 to check in. Before the ceremony, they will be able to upload a video or picture of themselves as well as a thank you message through StageClip by May 8th. As the days slowly approaches, graduates should be on the lookout for upcoming emails on any additional information on the ceremony as well as the MC commencement webpage. MC will also hold events throughout the semester to celebrate the success of graduates.
“Together, we will celebrate your academic achievements (and all of your hard work) with anticipation for the next chapters in your academic and professional lives,” Williams added.
