In recent years the growth of the car scene community in the DMV area has been exponentially increasing. The rapid growth is due to several reasons but one of the main reasons is the pandemic which has given people extra time to work on their cars; That being said, social media has had a large effect on its uprising popularity.
What is the car community? Well, they are a group of car enthusiasts that all share the same passion for modifying and customizing their cars to their liking. Whether that be changing the color of the car or painting the brakes, to adding a turbo that will add 100 horsepower to the car, they are doing it all and more.
“They make us happy. We build them to our personal liking to make us happy. It gives us joy, peace, and happiness to be able to express that with open-minded people” – Aiden P
They also have car meets which are gatherings of car enthusiasts showing off their cars. For the most part, the car meets are very laid back (if you go to the right ones). A place where you can walk around and look at all the different cars coming in every make and model, you can imagine. From decked-out Hondas to the rare Skyline. People of all ages go to the car meets, some even bring their babies and dogs to the meets.
As the weather gets nicer and more car meets start to accrue more often; I would suggest going to one to spend the evening or the early morning meets with a nice cup of coffee in hand. Usually meets will be posted on certain Instagram pages or just ask one of your friends who’s a car enthusiast.
Remember to always drive safely and keep your eyes on the road 😉
