Some members of the Globe and I attended the Fall Festival organized by Student Life on October 16th. It was a festival that took over the area between the SA and the HS building. The festival offered a variety of activities and food options, including desserts, a photo booth, pumpkin painting, and a large inflatable obstacle course where you could race a friend. This event happens every year around this time and the best part is that it’s completely free for MC students. My name is Chris Thomson and I will detail what great things that students can indulge in on college campuses.
My friends and I tried everything they had. We did some pumpkin painting and painted beautiful pumpkins (mine was the best obviously). Like I mentioned before, they had an inflatable obstacle course that was a race between two people, so of course you know we had to try it. Xavier, our editor in chief, and I raced each other through this course. The obstacle course was circular; you started and ended at the same point while running around half the circle. A spinning device in the center aimed to knock you down as you raced. It may sound scary but it was a lot of fun.
Since the photo booth was there, we took some photos of the four of us. I think they turned out great! I try to attend most Student Life events with a photo booth because I love collecting the photos and displaying them on my cork board to showcase the fun I’ve had at various events. If you haven’t attended yet and don’t have class during the events, I highly encourage you to join in and experience the fun that Student Life offers.
As Chris implied, Student Life events are a lot of fun and offer wonderful opportunities to new students to mingle with others and have the potential to make new friends ! My name is Xavier and I had a fantastic time hanging out with my newspaper colleagues as we were able to take a quick break from reality and enjoy the festivities. With midterms taking place, this event could not have shown up at a better time.
The environment was light and hopeful as music blared and students talked, events hosted by student life offer a sense of community that other campuses lack. As soon as you stepped foot on campus, you would be greeted, given a ticket to participate in the festivities, a pair of gloves as well as a wide variety of snacks to choose from. From cinnamon donuts to brownie pieces to chocolate chip cookies, the feeling was electric !
Although my time of fun was cut short due to the responsibilities of a college student, the moments captured during this time were worthwhile as I was able to spend time with people that I care for and have grown to cherish. Victoria,Chris, Sophie are just some of The Globe’s members that made the experience that much better. Don’t be afraid to go out and experience new things with people you may not be too familiar with as you might just slip up and have a spectacular time ! Afraid of experiencing some fun? Don’t be !
